SKE Subject Knowledge Enhancement: Chemistry (36 weeks)

Course Description

Working as a chemistry teacher is a highly rewarding experience, but you might not have the academic qualifications needed to get started. Perhaps you have an A level in chemistry but not a degree, or maybe you worked in a chemistry-related field that peaked your interest. No matter what your background, our course will help you gain the qualification you need to get started in teaching. We'll build on your potential and give you the necessary knowledge to develop your expertise to the right level for teaching.

Course outline

You'll attend a series of face-to-face sessions for the first 14 weeks, with some supported independent study. The rest of the course will be completed online, allowing you to complete your SKE work as you engage in PGCE studies. This course ends in late December so you can embed your subject knowledge in your classroom practice. It's important to show you have the necessary effort and commitment required to succeed.

Graduate destinations

This course enables you to build your subject knowledge in order to train to teach secondary science with a chemistry specialism. There are excellent job opportunities in this subject due a national shortage of teachers in this subject.

Visit the SKE Subject Knowledge Enhancement: Chemistry (36 weeks) page on the University of Cumbria website for more details!
