SKE Subject Knowledge Enhancement: Mathematics (8 weeks)

Course Description

Boost your subject knowledge in mathematics to get ready for your PGCE! If you don't have the right qualifications for teaching maths, then our 8-week course will ensure you're in the right place to get started as a secondary school teacher. If you've got the expertise, perhaps from maths modules in your degree or A Level qualifications in mathematics, then we're here to help you prove your potential and ability to become a first class teacher.

Course outline

The first two weeks consist of a series of face-to-face sessions with some supported independent study. The rest of the course takes place mainly online through flexible distance learning resources, allowing you to engage with your PGCE studies whilst completing your SKE work.

Graduate destinations

This course enables you to build your subject knowledge in order to train to teach secondary mathematics. There are excellent job opportunities in this subject due to there being a national shortage of teachers.

Visit the SKE Subject Knowledge Enhancement: Mathematics (8 weeks) page on the University of Cumbria website for more details!

Entry Requirements

You must have a confirmed place on a suitable course of Initial Teacher Training (e.g. PGCE, School Direct) to be eligible for a place on this course.
