Senior Leadership NPQ

Course Description

Are you a deputy head looking to advance your professional development? Or are you working as a SENCO and wish to improve your potential? Then our exciting new programme is perfect for your needs! You'll gain an award that shows national recognition of your development and professional achievement as a senior leader. If you have cross-school responsibilities but don't feel ready to take on a full headship yet, we can help you prove your skills and qualifications within your field of experience.

Complete the course at a pace that suits you, working around home and work commitments to ensure you aren't distracted from your busy schedule. We offer a flexible programme that combines core topics with your choice of modules, so whether you want to develop skills in building partnerships or learn about effective whole school management, you'll be able to increase your knowledge of professional interests. Our qualification will prove that you're a fully qualified leader within your area, standing out as a senior leader of distinction!

Course outline

You'll complete two essential modules and one elective module, developing the skills, confidence and knowledge you need to lead whole-school issues. Each module requires up to 50 hours of blended learning, typically involving 20 hours of workplace learning and practice activities, face-to-face teaching methods including facilitated and peer learning, and using online learning resources.

Our NPQSL is delivered by serving head teachers and senior leaders supported by online tutors and mentors from the University of Cumbria.

Entry Requirements

This course is for senior leaders with cross-school responsibilities, including experienced middle leaders, deputy heads, special educational needs co-ordinators (SENCOs) and advanced skills teachers, and other senior staff looking for further professional development but not aspiring to headship at this stage in their career.
