PGCE General Primary with QTS - Mathematics specialism

Course Description

We're looking for individuals with a passion and skillset for mathematics who want to help primary school children get enthusiastic about learning through maths. Our highly-rated PGCE course will give you the knowledge and skills to be an effective teacher, developing independent learning techniques and self-motivation that will be valuable throughout your career. We'll help you gain a commitment to supporting all children's mathematical development, with the ability to articulate, defend and amend your personal view of the role of maths in primary school.

This programme will give you 60 credits towards an MA in Education, furthering your study with incredible ease. Our highly-committed and effective tutors will support you in studying two modules at masters level, reflecting the very high standards achieved by students on this course. If you have a genuine willingness to explore the learning potential of maths across a range of mediums, then we're here to help you understand how children learn and understand mathematical concepts to improve your success as a teacher.

Course outline

Over half the course will be spent working with children on an assessed placement, with school-based enrichment activities alongside your university-based study. You'll take three placements across a variety of schools and settings, building a wealth of experience to help advance your future career.

We'll teach you to help children get enthusiastic about learning through mathematics. You'll benefit from the experience each student brings to the course, which will lead to a greater appreciation of the range of learning needs you will eventually encounter in school. We're looking for those committed to being good teachers, not your advanced mathematical abilities, by developing those who wish to provide the ultimate maths experience to students.
