Therapeutic Practice for Psychological Trauma


Course Description

This programme offers the opportunity to qualified and experienced therapeutic practitioners to gain training in a range of therapeutic modalities for treating psychological trauma: EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness and Compassionate Mind Training. It also explores cutting-edge research-based knowledge on the nature of psychological trauma from neurological, sociological and psychological perspectives. You will undertake trauma-related supervised professional practice, and research your chosen trauma-related topic for your dissertation. Further optional modules will offer you the opportunity to study supervising trauma therapists, managing traumatic incidents and creating trauma-informed organisations.

Entry Requirements

A good honours degree (2:2 and above), professional training in a therapeutic discipline such as clinical or counselling psychology, psychotherapy or counselling, and membership of an appropriate professional body such as the Health Professions Council or the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. Applicants should also have experience of working with psychological trauma. Applicants who wish to undertake the Trauma-Focused CBT module must have an appropriate qualification in CBT.
