Religious Studies

Course Description

This programme enables you to explore diverse forms of religious and spiritual life across the globe from a variety of disciplinary perspectives, drawing on the range of research interests of a large department. It equips you to engage critically with religious texts, traditions and phenomena, and offers training in research methods, including field research, and in advance theory.

The MA is suitable for professionals wishing to increase their religious literacy and develop transferable skills, for teachers wanting to enhance their expertise, and for anyone wanting to understand the impact of religion and spirituality in the world today. It provides a thorough grounding in the knowledge and skills required to pursue doctoral research.

You participate virtually by studying modules at a distance with online resources and tutorial support, or by a mixture of virtual and face-to-face study at the Parkgate Road Campus, Chester.

By studying this programme you will join a flourishing postgraduate community in the department of Theology and Religious Studies, and have the opportunity to attend Departmental Research Seminars and to take part in MA Symposia and our Postgraduate Training programme.

Applications are considered for September entry.
