Course Description

The one-year PGCE is, by necessity, an intensive and highly demanding course and prepares you to teach children designated 11-16 with the option of receiving enhancement at post 16 level; successful completion of the programme enables the University to recommend QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).

Entry Requirements

Minimum of 2:1 honours degree in one or more foreign languages; main language the trainee is offering to teach must comprise at least 40 per cent of the degree course. Applicants are favoured if they can offer a second foreign language which does not have to be at an advanced level; if the applicant does not have a second language, they may be asked to complete a French or German extension course at a neighbouring institution. GCSE grade C or above in mathematics and English language (or equivalent). Two weeks experience in a state secondary school. CRB disclosure is required.
