MSc in Business Management


Course Description

The MSc in Business Management is specifically designed for those with little or no work experience since graduation and who plan a professional or managerial career in the business world. The programme aims to provide a rigorous postgraduate business and management education, leading to the award of a master’s degree.

This intensive 12 month programme will help you become an effective manager when you enter the business world, by giving you a thorough understanding of management techniques, marketing, accounting and finance, human resource management, strategic management, the business environment and cultural and ethical issues. It will sharpen your team-working and leadership skills and help you develop research skills. You will also undertake your own postgraduate research work on a business and management topic, relevant to your interest or future career plans.

During two semesters, you will be able to gain a thorough grounding in the key aspects of business management. In semester 1, you will learn about:

- Management Theory and Practice
- Teamwork and Leadership in Action
- Human Resource Management
- Marketing Principles and Concepts
- Accounting and Finance
- Critical Perspectives on Management

And, in semester 2, you will learn about:
- Business Environment
- Strategic Management
- Managing Across Cultures
- Change Management
- Business and Management Ethics
- Business and Management Research Methods

Finally, during semesters 2 and 3, you have the opportunity to complete a Masters dissertation which will involve you in planning and implementing a research study on an approved topic within the area of business management. This provides an ideal opportunity to personalise your study programme reflecting your own interests and career aspirations.

Entry Requirements

A recognised university undergraduate honours degree, with at least a Lower Second Class classification, or a professional qualification deemed to be equivalent.
