The aim of this course is to provide an intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience of learning and studying the modern aspects of analytical chemistry. The focus is on the application of state of the art instrumental techniques which underpin the operation of contemporary analytical laboratories. This course provides a broad perspective of analytical techniques covering both the analysis of organic and inorganic analytes in both liquid and solid form; thereby maximising career opportunities across the broadest possible range of employers within the chemicals sector and related industries ranging from pharmaceuticals to micro-electronics. The fundamental ethos of this course is to underpin the theoretical knowledge gained within the class room with extensive laboratory sessions. This cumulates in an 80 credit project whereby students have the opportunity to specialise in various areas of instrumental analysis. This course will appeal to graduates from chemistry, chemical physics and other related disciplines.

Honours degree of the level 2.2 or above from a United Kingdom university or its equivalent; orDegree or HNC or HND in an appropriate discipline, together with appropriate professional experience qualification or experience deemed to be equivalent to any of the above.Applications from individuals with non-standard qualifications or relevant work / life experience who can demonstrate the ability to cope with and benefit from degree-level studies are especially welcome to apply, and may be interviewed.
