MA/PGDip/PGCert Health Service Management

Course Description

The course is designed for clinicians and managers in the UK health care system. It provides a blend of up to date management theory and techniques with health service management policy and practice. It will include a focus on core topics such as: health policy, strategy making, managing organisational change, leadership, and human resource management. You will be encouraged to develop critical awareness, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to apply these to the health care context.

The course will be particularly relevant to the needs of individuals with some managerial experience, interested in applying the results of their study to their own practice and organisation. The programme is delivered by a mix of short lectures, case studies, discussion groups and experiential learning methods. The programme uses a variety of work based assessments, including case studies, assignments, reports, projects and student presentations.
