MSc Carbon and Resource Management

Course Description

Carbon management is an emerging environmental field, with many medium to large public and private sector organisations looking to employ carbon/environmental managers. In Europe, the EU is no longer seen as the driver for company policy on sustainability. Businesses are increasingly looking towards carbon trading to inform their best practices and maintain market share. The course provides a critical approach to theories, techniques and methods in carbon and water management and provides students with a learning environment in which they will develop their capacity for independent study, their ability to collaborate with others in team settings, and their capacity for critical thought and reflection. The broad areas covered include: a comprehensive introduction to carbon and water management, with particular reference to the resource management and carbon mitigation. The course explores the role of governments, carbon and water management. The impact of both cultural perceptions.

Several modules (Environmental Management within Organisations, Global Waste Management and the Dissertation) are currently accredited by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management. It is expected that accreditation will also be sought from the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management, Institute of Energy, Chartered Institute of Waste Management.
