Occupational Therapy and Management MSc (Post-registration)

Course Description

Our post-reg Occupational Therapy and Management MSc enables qualified occupational therapists to build on their skills and knowledge, advance their professional practice, and earn a further professional and academic qualification.

The course benefits both qualified occupational therapists who already have some management responsibility and also those who wish to move into a management role.

Through the course you will develop your clinical and communication skills, and broaden your knowledge of the occupational therapy specialty while earning a formal qualification in management.

Course structure:
Our postgraduate programmes are taught by a wide variety of methods - small active learning groups, seminars, action learning sets, problem-based learning, lectures, and self-directed literature searches.

Normally students are advised to start with the core modules to give them a solid grounding in professional studies. Within the core modules, you will reflect on examples from your daily work and the assessment topic is chosen from practice.

Masters-level education is an important component of advanced and specialist practice. It allows you greater autonomy and to accelerate personal and professional development or promotion in your practice.

Career opportunities include clinical specialist, consultant occupational therapist, occupational therapy management, general management, clinical educator and occupational therapy education.

You will also be equipped to undertake further study at MPhil and PhD level if you wish to continue pursuing an academic path.

Entry Requirements

Students normally require a qualification recognised by the College of Occupational Therapists and the Health Professions Council, plus minimum two years post-registration experience. Accreditation of prior learning available for masters-level credits. For students whose first language is not English, we require IELTS 6.5 over all with 6 in written skills (or an equivalent English as a Foreign Language qualification).
