Marketing and Management (MSc)


Course Description

This degree programme will appeal to students from a range of backgrounds seeking to develop the knowledge and skills in marketing and management that would enable them to pursue appropriate business and marketing careers in domestic or international organisations.

The programme incorporates not only core areas of management (management in context, international business environment, economics, human resource management and finance and accounting) but also key knowledge and skills within the area of marketing (marketing strategy, marketing communications, marketing simulation, services marketing, consumer behaviour).

The programme is suitable for students with or without prior experience of business, marketing or management subject areas. As such, this MSc is designed for those who want to focus on the areas of marketing and management in order to change career direction, get started in a specific career or boost an existing career. The programme is aimed at both recent graduates and those with a first degree and work experience. The programme delivers many opportunities to gain practical skills in marketing and management through the use of module assignments, case studies, marketing strategy simulation and industry speakers.

The programme specifically allows graduates to pursue careers in a number of areas including general management, services or general marketing, advertising and communications, and consultancy.

Initially, MSc students take a number of compulsory modules to provide the foundations for an understanding of management. There is then the opportunity to choose from a range of specialist modules before embarking on a dissertation looking at a specific marketing-related topic.

Entry Requirements

You must have a degree (not necessarily in business and management) from an approved university; alternatively, an appropriate professional qualification may be acceptable (subject to University approval).If we need evidence of your proficiency in English, you will be required to achieve a minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS test (with no sub-text less than 5.5), or a score of 94 in the internet-based TOEFL (with minimum scores of Reading 18, Listening 17, Speaking 20, Writing 17), or 60 in the PTE-A (Pearson Test of English-Academic).

Course Fees

£9,000 for home/EU students and £13,500 for international students for 2013/14
