Course Description

The Unit of Public Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics is home to a wide range of academic public health activities, including:

Epidemiological and health services research
Public health resource development
Health technology assessment
Postgraduate taught courses
Research opportunities and undergraduate medical education

Our main research programmes are in the areas of:
The epidemiology of maternal and child health, cancer, genetics, health behaviour, and respiratory and communicable disease
Health services research in health care evaluation, evidence-based practice, health care quality, health impact assessment
Clinical trials, Biostatistics and other research methodology

In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), 60% of our submission in the area of Epidemiology and Public Health was considered internationally excellent or world leading, highlighting the substantial strength in this area within the College of Medical and Dental Sciences.
