Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA)

Course Description

This programme provides a thorough grounding in functional issues in management and is a qualification in its own right. It also empowers those who seek to gain entry to our MSc and MBA programmes.

We aim to expose you to a wide range of management disciplines that develop your abilities to:

- Synthesise diverse theoretical issues
- Analyse complex business situations from theoretical and practical perspectives
- Understand team dynamics
- Build confidence in articulating and presenting solutions to a critical audience

Programme content

We employ many teaching and assessment methods on this programme that reflect the standards required by our MBA and MSc programmes. For international students, we offer continuing English language support to enhance your learning experience.

Students on this programme have gained employment in both private and public sector organisations, and it has launched many successful careers. It offers opportunities for higher study to those candidates whose experience, qualifications or language ability may be insufficient for direct entry to our Masters programmes.

Simon Evans Scholarship - 10 Awards

Simon Evans, an alumnus of Birmingham Business School, has very kindly made funds available for exceptional students to gain access onto marketing courses for 2011 entry. 10 scholarships of £5000 towards your tuition fees are available. A Scholarship Panel will meet periodically over the Summer to review applications, and interview applicants if considered necessary, and will notify applicants of the outcome as soon as possible. The deadline for all applications is 1 August. Application Procedure

Having received an offer you will need to submit a 500-word Personal Statement addressing the issues noted below. Awards will be made mainly on academic merit and the quality of the Personal Statement, but the Scholarship Panel may also invite applicants for interview. Your Personal Statement should cover: (1) A review of your background (qualifications, training, relevant experience - even if only part-time) and how this links to your decision to study marketing (2) A review of the reasons you were attracted to the particular programme you have chosen (3) A review of your career aspirations (where you see yourself heading and why)
