Are you passionate about teaching history? The PGCE Secondary History programme at the University of Bedfordshire is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to become a highly qualified and confident history teacher. With a focus on practical teaching skills and a solid understanding of educational theory, you'll spend 70% of your time in placement schools, teaching across the 11-16 age range. By the end of the course, you'll achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and up to 60 Masters' level credits. This largely school-based course is designed to give you the subject-specific knowledge, secure understanding of educational theory and practical teaching skills to lead learning; initiate change; and thrive as a teacher in a challenging and rewarding profession.

Entry Requirements

Normally a 2:2 honours degree or equivalent in the subject for which you are applying to teach or a degree of which at least 50% is in that subject
A levels in the subject and/or related subjects are desirable
A standard equivalent to a grade 4 (or GCSE A to C) in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics.


Fees

The PGCE tuition fee for the Academic Year 2021/22 is £9,250.

You can apply for a loan from the Government to help pay for PGCE tuition fees.
