The MSc in Landscape Ecology is one of four MSc tracks in Earth Sciences offered by the Universiteit van Amsterdam. Landscapes are dynamic, evolutionary (eco)systems resulting from interrelated processes at the interface of geo-, pedo-, atmo-, hydro-, and biosphere. Landscape Ecology aims to integrate studies on functions of landscape elements, interactions between abiotic and biotic components, the consequences for landscape evolution and the response of landscapes to environmental change. Research methods vary along scales from microbial responces, through optical stimulated luminescence to satellite imagery and Geographical Information Systems.
