The Master of Mechanical Engineering (ME Mechanical) is a two year, 120 credit, professional engineering postgraduate degree programme. Graduates of this programme will be eligible for the title of Chartered Engineer (CEng).
[[Who is the ME Mechanical Engineering for?]] This programme is aimed at graduate Mechanical Engineers seeking to obtain a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. It is based on a 3 + 2 engineering education model.
[[What will I learn?]] You will gain advanced theoretical, conceptual and practical knowledge in the application of Mechanical Engineering. Emphasis is placed on the skills required to generate new knowledge through research. This is achieved through independent and project based learning while working with UCD academics and researchers on contemporary research projects.
[[How will I benefit?]] Mechanical Engineers are at the centre of virtually every area of technology. Graduates from this programme will be fully qualified professional engineers, capable of working anywhere in the world at and advanced technical level or as a professional engineering manager.
[[What is the programme about?]] This programme is about advancing your knowledge in Mechanical Engineering to a master level and hence advancing and enhancing your career opportunities.
[[Programme Highlights]] The programme comprises core and optional taught modules, a research project and a professional work experience. Advanced modules are available in core subject areas of Mechanical Engineering such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, continuum mechanics, fracture mechanics, solid mechanics, dynamics and control. Optional modules are available in materials engineering, nanomaterials, ceramics, metals processing, energy system and climate change and composites and polymers. Professional work experience is provided for a minimum period of 6 months.
[[Where can I go?]] Graduates from this programme will be fully qualified as professional engineers, capable of working world-wide at an advanced technical level or as a professional engineering manager.

Entrants to the programme will have a first cycle honours 2:1 Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and the appropriate prior learning.If English is not your native language (unless you have done your primary degree through English), an English language qualification is required, e.g. IELTS International English Language Testing System (IELTS). An average score of 6.5 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band on the Academic Version is required.
