Graduate Certificate in Peri-operative Nursing


Course Description

The Graduate Diploma in Peri-operative is aimed at advancing the registered nurses repertoire of knowledge and skills for professional practice in the operating theatre department.A Graduate Diploma in Peri-operative will enhance your existing knowledge and skills in caring for patients in the peri-operative environment.
Particular emphasis is placed on recent national and international research findings and/or evidence-based guidelines and recommendations aimed at ensuring optimal outcomes for patients being cared for in the peri-operative environment.This is a one (calender) year programme, broken down into three semesters. Entry Requirements

Have a Graduate Diploma/Masters Degree (NQAI Level 9) in a health related discipline. Be entered onto the appropriate division of the Nurses Register maintained by An Bord Altranais (be registered as an RGN) Have a minimum of one year’s post-registration experience, including at least six months in the peri-operative environment. Candidates must be employed in the peri-operative environment prior to commencing the course and for the duration of the course for a minimum of 75 hours per month.
