This is designed primarily for registered nurses working directly with people affected by cancer. However, it will also have relevance for all health practitioners working in diverse clinical and community settings who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of the psychological needs of people affected by cancer. You will develop the capacity to assess and manage the psychological needs of people affected by cancer from diagnosis to recovery. Using a framework of assessment and management, students will explore the areas of emotional and cognitive behaviour, sexuality, spirituality, communication, survivorship and palliative care. Applicants who hold a Degree/Graduate Diploma/Higher Diploma/Masters may apply to take this module. (Students who do not meet these requirements may be considered for entry under the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) guidelines.
