The M.A. in Directing for Theatre provides a range of advanced theoretical and practical strategies for directing practice, develops students’ skills and competencies, and encourages critical reflection on contemporary theatre practices. The programme is taught by Drama Studies specialists within the School of English, Drama and Film, including playwright Prof. Frank McGuinness, Adjunct Prof. in Drama Studies Patrick Mason (former Artistic Director, Abbey Theatre) and leading professional theatre practitioners. Dublin is internationally recognised as the home of the Irish theatrical tradition, and students benefit from the wide range of contemporary performances taking place around them.
