MA Film Studies

Course Description

At UCD students study film from within and beyond the canon in a variety of genres, periods and forms. We focus on film history and critical studies with an emphasis on issues of gender, class, race/ethnicity, consumerism and citizenship and set the analysis of cinema within national, international and transnational contexts. Although teaching ranges widely across Irish, British and American cinema faculty research is particularly concentrated in the areas of contemporary Hollywood film, representations of gender, Hitchcock, and urban and documentary films.
