MA American Literature

Course Description

The aim of the MA in American Literature is to enable students to engage with contemporary critical and theoretical debates about the interpretation and contextualisation of American literature. Representative areas of literary achievement are assessed in a number of ways from, for example, intense close readings to theoretical, formal, cultural, social and historical contexts. From drama to poetry to fiction, the promotion and questioning of American literary values from the nineteenth century to the present are addressed in seminars led by specialists in the field.
