This hugely popular course is a versatile and enriching environment for a diverse range of professionals. To name a few, we’ve welcomed people from youth and community work, business, leadership and management, the armed forces and early years education backgrounds. There are few roles in which this expertise can’t be put to good use.
Because of the diversity of students’ backgrounds, the course naturally allows participants to explore the principles of coaching and mentoring within a variety of settings, as well as applying new skills to their own role. The course’s general environment is dynamic and interactive, and students are encouraged throughout to share and explore ideas.
Through this course, students are equipped with transferable skills and theoretical perspectives in order to perfect good practice and move their careers in positive directions.
Following the programme, students might find themselves taking up mentoring roles with new colleagues, acting as subject mentors in initial teacher education, coaching colleagues in a range of settings, providing supervision for colleagues or even working freelance as an independent coach.

The skills and knowledge gained through undertaking this programme are transferable and relevant to anyone who is engaged in working with others in a developmental capacity. Whether you are looking to strengthen your leadership and management tool kit with a view to future promotion, wanting to progress in your existing role as a coach or mentor, or considering moving into the field of independent coaching, a post graduate (level 7) qualification will strengthen your CV.
Applicants will need: A good first degree 2:2 honours or above. To be engaged in paid or voluntary work (full or part time) where coaching and/or mentoring is or could be undertaken. English language level of IELTS 6.5 for international students. Non-standard applications are also welcome and careful consideration will be given to those who can present a case based on their career history, experience and other learning.
