The North West SHARES Primary and Early Years SCITT programme is an innovative school-led Initial Teacher Training model for trainees here in the North West. Over the course of an intense year, we will give you the skills and experience needed to become highly effective, fully qualified teachers able to take up post in either Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.
Throughout your programme we will offer you a real balance between practical classroom experience and the knowledge, understanding and skills underpinning educational practice.
Throughout the professional aspect of your training, you will benefit from gaining experience in at least 2 schools who work in partnership and alliance with us within the North West.
In this way you will be immersed in highly supportive and aspirational classroom environments across the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, where you will work alongside highly experienced class teachers to develop your professional knowledge and skills necessary for the delivery of creative, purposeful and challenging teaching and learning.
On successful completion of the programme, you will be recommended for the award of QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) 3-11 years, however, you will have the opportunity to specialise in Early Years/Primary QTS, thus allowing you to gain a greater level of experience in this age phase which best suits your experience, expertise or interests.
You will need a first degree of 2.2 or above,GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English, Maths and a science subject, QTS Skills Tests, evidence of experience in a UK school setting, a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (prior to starting the programme)
