Electronic Music encompasses a huge range, from popular electronic dance music through to electro-acoustic. Composition studies include one-to-one tutorials in an area of electronic music of your choice, working with members of staff who boast unrivalled experience in the field.
Modules Depending on the route you choose, the core modules you study will be:
Practical Composition one and two Orchestration and Arranging Conducting. Or
Electronic Music Composition one and two Developing your Career Interactive Music Technology Research Methods Dissertation or Project. Optional modules include:
Stylistic Composition (pre 1900) Stylistic Composition (post 1900) Multi-track Recording and Mixing for Surround Film and TV Score Production Advanced Non-linear Recording Combining Sounds Digital Audio Interface Design for Music The Development of Audio Technology Manipulating Sounds.
Applicants must have the following:2:1 Honours degree or higher in Music, Music Technology or a related subject, or substantial industry or prior experience in the field. This course requires advanced musical knowledge (although knowledge of notation and instrumental skills are not required).Candidates will be required to provide a portfolio of degree level / professional work and a written statement.International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.5 or above, and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
