The Masters degree in College Student Services Administration prepares students to work in entry to mid-level positions in student services in higher education. Students will have a comprehensive knowledge of student services functions on a college campus. Your classes will utilize a theory-to-practice model, helping students to develop both practical skills and a theoretical understanding of the complexity of higher education in a diverse society. Students are encouraged to develop their understanding of higher education as it relates to serving all college students and the development of the whole college student. About the CSSA Program The Masters of Science in Education degree in College Student Services Administration requires the successful completion of a 36 credit hour program. The philosophy of the program is based out of the historic view of the field of Student Personnel which was counseling. The student as a whole person is an important developmental perspective along with examining services from a “Student Centered” point of view.
There are many qualities that differentiate the Saint Rose graduate program in College Student Services Administration from similar programs at other institutions: *small class sizes allow students to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of our faculty who are all experienced professionals. *multicultural and social justice issues are integrated into all course work. *emphasis on combining a counseling philosophy, student development theory and administration. *the program strongly emphasizes the practical application of course work.
Students will also participate in one 300 hour internship in the field of College Student Services
Candidates interested in more Counseling coursework or working in a capacity requiring Mental Health Licensure should look at the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
