Graduate Diploma Business and English (pre-Masters course)


Course Description

Choose this pre-masters course if you are an international student (non-native speaker of English) planning on studying for a masters in business, management, finance or related studies. You improve your English language proficiency and business knowledge to a level which allows you entry onto selected postgraduate courses. The course provides an equal balance of English language development and knowledge of business, management and finance.

You have the opportunity to carry out research projects with local and regional organisations, which will be an enriching cultural experience and enhance your employment prospects.

Successfully completing the course enables you to choose from a range of postgraduate courses to suit your interests and career development needs. These are available at Sheffield Hallam and other academic institutions.

Sheffield Business School runs postgraduate courses in:

If you successfully complete this course you will be eligible for a 25% discount on your fees on a full-time Sheffield Business School postgraduate beginning in September.

Full time – 33 weeks. January to August for masters courses starting in September.

-Study and research skills for business

Business modules
-Contemporary business management practice
-Financial business management

Assessment: coursework, project work, individual assignments, group projects, oral presentations, timed assessments.

If your English language skill is currently below IELTS 5.5 we recommend you consider a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve an equivalent English score in order to progress onto the Graduate Diploma in Business and English. Students who pass a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course will receive a 10% discount on the course fee for the Graduate Diploma in Business and English.

Entry Requirements

To study this course, you must have an IELTS score of 5.5 with 5.5 minimum in all skill areas and: three year diploma in a relevant subject; two year diploma (or equivalent) with relevant work experience; five years professional experience. See course description for further admission details.
