Master Degree Programme in Embedded Computing Systems


Course Description

The Master of Science in Embedded Computing Systems is jointly offered by the Institute of Communication, Information and Perception Technologies (TeCIP) of Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. It is aimed at providing the basic knowledge for approaching complex software design in embedded computing systems using the most modern design methodologies, and integrating specific knowledge in various research areas, including automatic control, signal acquisition and processing, real-time computing, sensors and actuators interfacing, software engineering, formal methods for software verification, distributed systems, computer architectures, and digital electronics.

The organization of teaching courses and laboratories will allow each student to achieve the most suitable and effective working environment. In order to achieve the described goals for high qualification and working environment, the maximum number of admitted students per year is 40, (30 EU, 10 non-EU).

People graduating in Embedded Computing Systems will have a deep knowledge in the following fields:
• real-time computing systems, scheduling algorithms and resource management;
• microprocessor, multiprocessor and multi-core architectures;
• distributed systems and sensor networks;
• paradigms, models and tools for software design.

(Scholarship)

DSU aids consist in scholarships (up to 1,600.00 euros per year), lodging grants, free meals at the University canteen, and tuition waiver.

The DSU is a regional agency, which offers the possibility of a special grant based on financial income and merit.

The annual call for contributions is published in the month of July.
Students have to fill in an online application form and must prove they meet all economic and family requirements

Entry Requirements

- Bachelor degree with a curriculum studiorum fitting the Master Degree Course Regulations (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technologies etc.)- Good knowledge of English language, at least corresponding to an intermediate level (B1 Level in the European Framework for foreign languages).

Depending on family income and country of provenience. Maximum fees per year: € 2,354.00
