MSc programme that can be completed in two years. Students write 30 ECTS thesis and have the option of pursuing an internship, embarking upon exchange studies at an international partner university or selecting courses that increase the interdisciplinary nature of the programme.
Students who have completed a BSc in business administration have the option of applying for admission to the 90 ECTS MSc programme, but in that case, students do not have the opportunity to participate in a student exchange or internship abroad.
The Master's programme in human resource management and organizational psychology is designed to prepare students for work involving the management and development of human resources in a demanding knowledge-based work environment. Graduates work, for example, in management, consultancy, human resource issues, educational issues, business development, or change management.
The programme aims to deepen students' understanding of management, marketing, and organisational psychology. An emphasis is placed on strengthening analytical skills, communication skills, and ability to develop human resources and organisations in a demanding environment. The aim of the studies is to train and motivate students to use analytical and critical thinking. The MSc programme furthermore trains students in using independent and scientific work methods.
Through elective courses, there are possibilities for integration with other fields within RU, such as law and information technology. The content of the programme is based on international academic requirements and criteria and is developed in effective consultation with progressive Icelandic companies.
The programme is entirely taught in English but elective courses taught in Icelandic are also available.
[[Teaching methods]] Each course in the programme is designed to foster a dynamic interaction among students and professors in order to promote a healthy and rich learning environment. This environment not only helps students develop a knowledge base and set of professional skills, it provides a firm foundation for advanced academic study (in PhD programmes in Iceland or abroad) or for entering the global marketplace.
[[Scholarships]] Dean´s Selection Grant for RU School of Business graduate students.
The recipient of the Dean´s Selection Grant pays undergraduate fees instead of graduate fees. - An application for a full-time graduate programme is also an application for the Dean´s Selection Grant for the first semester. - Students with the highest grade in a graduate programme each semester are applicable. In order to receive the award students must complete 30 ECTS units per semester and follow the programme structure.
[[Internship]] An internship is an important factor for students who have limited work experience or students who wish to create opportunities for themselves in a new venue. A maximum of two electives can be replaced by internships (total of 15 ECTS). RU organizes the internships and students are provided with a contact person at the company. In many instances, an internship can lead to an employment opportunity. Access to internships may be limited, and the rule applies that students who have demonstrated the best results in their studies take precedence.
BSc degree in business administration or,BSc or BA degree in other fields provided that upon starting the programme, the applicant has successfully passed undergraduate courses in the areas of accounting and managerial accounting or will take such courses at RU in place of elective courses during the Master's studies.Excellent English language skills.Further education and professional experience benefit applicants in the evaluation process.
