Do you like to solve complex problems? Are you looking for a degree that will place you in one of the hottest jobs in the country?
Computational science is the field of study that uses computers to analyze and solve scientific problems. More than 750,000 jobs in the United States alone will be created in this sector in the next six years. CWU's computational science master’s program is the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.
The heart of CWU's interdisciplinary program is computer-related, but the applications will be studied in the context of a number of scientific domains, including: • biological sciences • environmental sciences • chemistry • computer science • geology • mathematics • physics
CS Masters at CWU ... by the numbers ... 340 - Number of CPU cores available throughout the computer science department at CWU. Parallel computing or distributed computing, anyone?
8 - Number of research seminar presentations each year. Past topics have included the physics of sound, studying and modeling the behavior of drug resistant proteins, and using Mathematica to model and understand complex mathematical functions.
12 - The current number of active graduate students, who conduct research or are working on projects in many areas, including computer aided analysis of mathematical functions, cryptography, and AI inspired text analysis.
13 - The number of CWU faculty affiliated with the CWU Computational Sciences Masters Program, from among the computer science, mathematics, chemistry, and math departments.
“CWU is located in an ideal location, its right in the middle of WA and within driving distance of any city in WA which makes it easier to take vacations. CWU has small classes with less than 30 students in each class, this encourages a close student-instructor relationship which has been very helpful to me especially during my freshman year when I was trying to get used to the way of life here. CWU offers amazing tuition prices and waivers for international students to enable them to concentrate on school and not have to worry about their financials all the time. The international community here at CWU is very supportive of international students and the advisors are always looking out for the students by exploring new ways to improve the services they already offer.”
“The things that I must enjoy from the Master in Geological Sciences is the high quality faculty and their connection with faculty from other universities around the world. The fact of being a small student group make the faculty pay you more attention, being one of their main priorities.”
