M.Ed. Educational Foundations & Curriculum

Course Description

The Master Teacher, M.Ed., is a graduate program for classroom teachers intending to advance their careers or assume positions of leadership within their schools. The program allows current teachers to focus on an area of emphasis in the P-12 classroom setting. Key components of the program are student choice, allowing you to design your own program, and flexibility.

Students complete at least 48 credits as outlined in an approved "Course of Study" filed with the School of Graduate Studies and Research. All of the classes in the Educational Foundations and Curriculum Department are taught online. The development of a "Course of Study" must be appropriate to the professional goals and purposes of each individual student.

CWU Master Teacher Advantage

Student choice. A key component of this Master Teacher program is student choice, allowing you to design your own program. You select 29 of the required 48 credits to meet your personal career goals.

Flexibility. All Educational Curriculum and Foundation courses are online (at least 19 credits). Also, the Master Teacher Program may be completed in as little as 1.5 years including two summer quarters.

Generally, the transcript must show “B” or better work in courses most closely related to the applicant’s intended area of specialization.

3. Written statement of educational objectives and professional aims.

4. At least one year of successful regular contracted teaching experience.

5. A teaching degree from an accredited university.

4562.jpg “CWU is located in an ideal location, its right in the middle of WA and within driving distance of any city in WA which makes it easier to take vacations. CWU has small classes with less than 30 students in each class, this encourages a close student-instructor relationship which has been very helpful to me especially during my freshman year when I was trying to get used to the way of life here. CWU offers amazing tuition prices and waivers for international students to enable them to concentrate on school and not have to worry about their financials all the time. The international community here at CWU is very supportive of international students and the advisors are always looking out for the students by exploring new ways to improve the services they already offer.”
