The curriculum has a strong emphasis on mentoring with faculty and in fieldwork placements. Nurses with an RN and a Bachelor's degree in another discipline are also eligible to apply.
The School of Nursing and Health Studies offers graduate study leading to the Master of Nursing degree. The schedule of classes is based on a cohort model with students admitted each fall. [[What Students Will Learn/Program Objectives]] Graduates of the Master of Nursing program are able to: - Evaluate the adequacy of underlying knowledge from nursing science, related fields and professional foundations as it informs advanced practice. - Competently assess and manage health-related issues within a defined population or care system, and evaluate the effectiveness of these advanced nursing practices. - Utilize knowledge and skills in professional practice among diverse and multicultural populations. - Demonstrate competence in development of inquiry relevant to practice, education or administration. - Develop and utilize leadership strategies that foster improvement of health care.
A baccalaureate nursing degree from an NLN- or CCNE-accredited program OR An associate degree or diploma and a baccalaureate degree in another field; AND Minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the last 90 graded quarter credits (or 60 semester credits); AND Three-credit course in descriptive and inferential statistics minimum grade of 2.0.
