Master of Arts in Theology and Leadership

Course Description

Learning how to combine effective leadership with the core principles of Christian theology is vital to personal, career and organisational growth in many church, faith-based and non-profit environments around the globe.

This integrated online Masters of Arts in Theology and Leadership builds on the University’s expertise in theological study, extending back to the Christian origins of three of the four University of Roehampton colleges. It aims to provide learners with the tools and insights to move ahead in their roles, strengthening both personal and organisational practice.

Throughout the course, the innovative programme interweaves leadership and management skills with Christian theological thinking. The knowledge and skills you gain should help to ensure the decisions you make not only make sense from an organisational or ministry perspective, but from a theological one, too.

Each of the Roehampton Online masters programmes has been designed to help you move forward in your life and follows the same basic structure.

Every online programme is made up of seven modules and a research project. Every module lasts 12 weeks. You then have a break of approximately two weeks before resuming your studies. Your research project is much like a dissertation, in which all previous leaning culminates in an academic research paper. Modules equate to 20 academic credits while your research project carries 40 credits – but you have 26 weeks to complete that part of your programme.

(Student Profile)

Folakemi Abraham

“I have studied at a university in London and met others from different countries, but the impact was not as great as what I am experiencing with online learning. The interactive nature of learning at the University of Roehampton Online is a lot more effective, personal, and real.”

Parthiban Devanathan

“I enjoy the flexibility I’ve found at the University of Roehampton Online. I can use whatever spare time available to me to concentrate on my studies, my homework, and my shared activities. It also means talking to the other colleagues to learn from their knowledge and share my knowledge with them.”

Paula Barnes

“I think the thing that stood out more than anything for Roehampton, was that somebody took the time to talk to me and took me through the application process.”
