Course Description

The MA Management offers an advanced study of management and the changing global context in which organisations operate. The programme emphasises the personal nature of effective management and leadership, developing graduates who can become catalysts for change in both business and society.

This programme combines management and leadership theory, practice and values while nurturing the social and emotional aspects of learning.There is strong emphasis on teamwork and practical, experience-based learning linked to and focused on the world of management and leadership.

The programme philosophy is to ‘cultivate the seeds of possibilities’ – bringing together management and leadership theory, practice and values while nurturing the social and emotional aspects of learning, and encouraging you to act with confidence in challenging situations.

Why should I choose this programme?

The MA Management will equip you with the essential business and life skills to master management practices at an enhanced level. You will be prepared to become a more effective leader, manager and citizen, capable of making a positive difference in both your work and community.

You will make an advanced study of leadership styles and management practices, and look at the personal style of particular leaders – how they manage people and operate in a changing external context.

There is a strong focus on developing your personal as well as professional attributes. You will evaluate your own strengths and abilities, and plan your own development, learning how to think for yourself, work in teams and take responsibility. The programme will foster your self-reliance and self-awareness, your ability to cope with change and ambiguity, and your sense of accountability

‌•For the duration of this programme you will become a member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and receive a NVQ level 7 Extended Diploma upon succesful completion of your studies. As a member of the CMI you will receive recognition of being affiliated with a professional body, have access to research materials, CMI events, job listings as well as the opportunity to have a mentor.

Applying to study at RUL is a quick and easy process. We accept direct applications, have no formal application deadlines and there is no application fee.

Step 1 Apply

Once you have completed the application form, please send us the following supporting documents, by post, email or fax:

•Copies of academic transcripts and certificates of all academic study undertaken after secondary school
•One letter of academic reference
•A copy of your CV/resumé showing your work experience if applicable.
•A 300 to 500-word personal statement in support of your application, outlining your reasons for applying to your chosen programme and how you feel you will benefit from the course of study
•A copy of your passport photograph (ID) page
•One recent passport-sized, colour photograph, jpeg format (this must be emailed to us at )
•If not a native English speaker, proof of your English proficiency

Please note: most candidates will be assessed for admission on the basis of their submitted application materials. However, RUL reserves the right to invite candidates for interview and to reject those who decline to attend.

Step 2 Making an offer

We will assess whether you meet our minimum entry requirements and will make you an offer by both email and post, or notify you that you have been unsuccessful.

If you have completed your education and have met all the entry requirements, you will be sent an unconditional offer. If you still have to finish your exams, or have yet to submit supporting documentation, we will make you a conditional offer.

You can expect to receive a decision on your application within 10 working days of receipt of your completed application and supporting documents.

Step 3 Accepting the offer

If you wish to accept the offer you must:

•Confirm your acceptance via email/post/telephone/in person
•Pay the registration fee (non-refundable)
•Pay the non-EU advance tuition fee deposit, if applicable (non-refundable)
•Please note: although there is no formal deadline to pay your registration fee or non-EU advance deposit, if you need to apply for an international student visa to study in the UK, then we recommend that you pay these as soon as possible.

Step 4 Full acceptance and visa

On receipt of your acceptance we will issue the final set of documentation and, where needed, the relevant visa support documentation. Postgraduate loans - Student Finance England 2016-17 - 20+ Awards

The PGL will be available to UK Nationals (and individuals with settled status in the UK) who have been ordinarily resident in the UK and Islands for three years on the first day of the first academic year of their programme.They must have been most recently resident in England, and must not have moved there from elsewhere in the UK and Islands solely for the purpose of attending the programme. Temporary absences from the home address, such as for education or travelling, will not prevent an applicant being eligible for PGL.Individuals may be eligible if they are an EU national or if they have the residency status of refugee, humanitarian protection, EEA or Swiss migrant worker, a family member of any of the previous categories, or a child of a Swiss national or child of a Turkish worker.You are permitted to transfer between Master’s programmes and retain your Postgraduate Loan (PGL).Repeat years of study will not be funded, unless you can prove compelling personal reasons (as defined in the SFE regulations) for repeating an academic year.Further funding is not available where you do not complete your studies in the specified programme length. However, you can suspend and resume your programme. No loan disbursements will be made during suspension periods.Withdrawals from programmes will be reported to the SLC immediately, and no payments will be made when you are no longer in study.Students with outstanding student loan arrears or students who have been previously declared ‘unfit’ for student support (e.g. due to attempted fraud) are also not eligible.
