MS in Nonprofit Management

Course Description

For more than three decades, students in the graduate program in nonprofit management have been turning purpose into meaningful action. Management theory and practice are taught in a framework that emphasizes leading social innovation and change. Students can choose from a range of predefined specializations or design their own.

Milano’s groundbreaking Nonprofit Management program was the first of its kind in this country. From the beginning, our highly engaged curriculum has resonated with innovative thinkers familiar with The New School’s deep commitment to advancing progressive change and social justice. Our students develop their critical thinking skills and engage with real-world nonprofit challenges and social entrepreneurial experiences. We prepare you to challenge assumptions and develop new perspectives for leading and managing nonprofits in this increasingly complex environment. The result is a unique program designed to give you the capacity and creative courage to generate, manage, and sustain nonprofit success.

Our highly flexible program allows you to take state-of-the-art management courses in our Organizational Change Management program and innovation courses at Parsons, receive your master's and specialty certification simultaneously, and tailor your electives to reflect a wide variety of interests, from environmental justice to food studies.

This program is a hub for university social innovation initiatives highlighted by our New Challenge student competition.
