The Professional Science Master’s at Tennessee Tech helps the next generation of environmental scientists and technicians meet the growing complexity and needs of environmental protection. The TTU program gives you the skills and abilities in data analysis
and other computer-based methods to help protect our world. Our reliance on faculty from a variety of academic disciplines will ensure that you have the information you need to understand environmental problems from multiple perspectives.
Students will combine a strong scientific foundation with concepts from geography, business, agriculture, computer science, and statistics.
The goal of our program is to prepare graduate students for data-driven careers in research, management, government and other areas where they will productively contribute to the solution of environmental problems and the sustenance of the Earth’s resources for future generations.
Tennessee Tech is located in Middle Tennessee on the edge of the Cumberland Plateau in Cookeville, which gives us a prime location for field research. The surrounding region is acclaimed for its variety of environments, including complex river systems, waterfalls and caves, dense woodland and man-made engineered facilities, including dam/lock systems and lakes. Our region, combined with Tennessee Tech’s hands-on technological curriculum, provides an amazing resource for graduate students.

COURSES & FACULTY
* Environmental Informatics combines existing courses in the Colleges of Business, Arts and Sciences, Agricultural and Human Sciences, and Engineering to effectively produce a new and essential degree. Currently, the business core courses are offered online and on campus through TTU’s MBA program.
* Environmental Informatics will also use an interdisciplinary approach of course delivery by incorporating faculty from the Colleges of Business, Arts and Sciences, and Engineering.
* Environmental scientists and technicians are required to meet increasing demands placed on companies as worldwide awareness of environmentalism increases.
* Statistics show many professionals in this field will soon be retiring, leaving space for the next generation of environmentalists.
* The program is designed for graduates of approved natural resources undergraduate programs (e.g., environmental biology, environmental chemistry, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, geology, environmental agriculture, environmental management, etc.).
* Therefore, a baccalaureate degree in an environmental program is required for full standing.
* Applicants that have baccalaureate degrees in a closely related field will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may be admitted to full standing upon completion of identified background courses.
A limited number of research and teaching assistantships are available, contingent upon funding.
Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale) in environmental sciences, natural resource management, environmental engineering, or equivalent field.At least 1000 on the verbal and quantitative portions of the GRE® General Test along with a 3.5 score on the analytical writing portion.Official transcripts from all previously-attended colleges or universitiesThree (3) letters of recommendation from faculty familiar with academic ability of the applicant.International applicants must meet English Language Requirement by providing test results on one (1) of the following: ◦ TOEFL -- 550 minimum (213 computer-based or 79 internet-based) ◦ IELTS -- minimum of 6.0
