MA Social Anthropology (Ethnomusicology)


Course Description

Queen's University Belfast is a member of the Russell Group, one of twenty research-led United Kingdom Universities. The School of History and Anthropology is one of the leading centres for historical and anthropological research on the island of Ireland

The MA in Social Anthropology (Ethnomusicology) consists of four taught modules and a dissertation. Full-time students take two modules in Semester 1 (Sept-Dec) and two in Semester 2 (Jan-June). Three of the taught modules are compulsory; the remaining taught module is selected from the following options. Students may specialise in Ethnomusicology by selecting Anthropology of Music as their fourth taught module. The dissertation should be on a theme that falls within the selected specialist area.

School of History and Anthropology MA Fees Bursaries - 3 Awards

In 2012, the School of History and Anthropology will be offering 3 scholarships for UK/EU candidates for our MA programmes in Irish History, Modern History, Irish Studies, Social Anthropology and Cognition and Culture at Queen's University Belfast. We also have funding for UK/EU PhD applicants.

Value of Scholarship(s)

UK and EU residents are eligible for fees. There is no maintenance.

Eligibility

UK and EU residents are eligible for full fees awards. These awards do not have a maintenance component.

Application Procedure

There is no separate application for funding. You may indicate on your application for MA or PhD that you wish to be considered for funding by responding 'yes' to 'Do you wish to apply for funding' in the Funding section. Applications are made through the University’s Admissions Office using the online application system at:

(Scholarship)

School of History and Anthropology International Masters Bursaries - 3 Awards

These bursaries will cover 50% of the International Tuition Fees for an MA programme. The holder is responsible for the other 50%. There is no maintenance component with these awards.U.S. citizens are also eligible for Federal Loans to help pay for tuition and living costs for a year in Belfast.

50% of the international fees (£11,266)

Eligibility

They are open to all international (non-UK/EU) applicants with an expected cgpa of 3.3 or above. UK/EU residents are not eligible for this competition.
