Master of Science: Dental Public Health


Course Description

If you are a dentist or other graduate and you want to pursue a career in dental public health, oral epidemiology, global health and health promotion in either service or university setting, this programme offers you unparalleled supervised experience in the theory and practice of dental public health and the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills.

Previous students have come from both the UK and a variety of countries all around the world. Your completion of the course makes you eligible to enter the internationally recognised Diploma in Dental Public Health examination of Royal College of Surgeons (England).For UK and EU graduates, this course can contribute to a three-year specialist training programme in Dental Public Health.

The programme consist of 8 modules and an individual project report, which in many occasions is published in peer-reviewed journals. You will be taught by internationally recognised academics and you will observe how Consultants in Dental Public Health work within a health care system.

QMUL-Chevening Scholarships - 20+ Awards

QMUL works closely with the Chevening - the UK government’s international scheme aimed at developing global leaders - to provide a large number of full scholarships for study on our one-year Masters courses.Every year QMUL hosts a large cohort of the 1500 Chevening Scholars who come to study at universities all over the UK. Eligibility

To be eligible for a Chevening Award you must:- Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country
- Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
- Have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry to a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.
- Have at least two years’ work experience
- Meet the Chevening English language requirement by 13 July 2017

QMUL is proud to be working in partnership with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK to offer a wide range of scholarships for postgraduate study at Master’s and PhD level.In 2017-18 we will be hosting an unprecedented number of Commonwealth Scholars from across the globe.Commonwealth Scholarships at QMUL typically cover full overseas tuition fees, living costs, airfares, and a variety of other expenses. Scholars from developing Commonwealth countries are eligible to apply for these awards.All candidates should apply to QMUL online following our normal application procedures (please be aware that candidates applying for a Commonwealth Scholarship may have an earlier application deadline than normal) and will also need to make an application directly to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.Commonwealth Scholarships are available to study any subject at QMUL but the programme should have developmental relevance and the scholarship only applies to one-year Masters degrees.

QMUL HESPAL Scholarships - Single Award

HESPAL aims to help create the next generation of senior academics who can maintain international quality standards at Palestinian universities and to develop renewed, sustainable links between Palestinian and UK universities.The Scheme will upgrade junior academic staff in Palestinian universities through a Masters Scholarship programme.Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) has one HESPAL scholarship available for students applying for any 1 year Masters programme, which covers:- tuition fees
- pre-departure briefing from the British Council
- arrival allowances
- thesis allowances
- a monthly allowance to cover living expenses.Scholarship does not cover the costs for accompanying family, visa fees, IELTS cost, and Airfare ticket to from the UK. The scholarship is limited to a period of up to 12 months and cannot be extended beyond 12 months.

Eligibility

- Applicant must be a resident citizen of Palestinian Territories.
- Applicant must be currently employed by the Palestinian university which nominates her/him, which must be one of the participating Palestinian universities.
- Applicant will have a Masters degree from a Palestinian university (see footnotes) with a minimum grade of very good (and equivalent to at least a 3.0 Bachelor’s Degree from UK).
- Applicant must sign a written undertaking to return to Palestinian university within a time frame agreed with their university, normally one year.
- Applicant must have IELTS certification appropriate for course and university (normally at least 6.5, sometimes higher).

Application Procedure

- Applicants should complete the HESPAL application form in collaboration with their university, indicating which subject area(s) they wish to study. Applicants should specify at least three and up to to five UK HEIs in order of preference, but there is no guarantee they will be placed in one of these institutions.
- Submit the HESPAL application to the home university in Palestine with all supporting documents attached.
- Each applicant should submit an online application direct to each university that they wish to apply to and should attach a copy to the HESPAL application. The completed application forms and all other documentation must be submitted in hard copies to your university scholarship coordination office by 23 Janurary 2017.
