Aerospace engineering has evolved and diversified since the early days of powered flight. Employers now require skills ranging from aerodynamics and flight control to space engineering simulation and design. This diversity means that engineers need to be able to operate and develop advanced devices, and understand complex theoretical and computational models.

* This MSc programme is available to students from a variety of non-engineering backgrounds such as Physics, Maths, and Electronic Engineering * It was the first of its kind in the country; offering some unique modules including, Aeroelasticity, Crash worthiness, and Space engineering * Students will collaborate with researchers working in alternative fuels sources, so it is relevant and timely * Aerospace Engineering is an employment related field which allows you to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in design, aerodynamics, propulsion and technology.
You will have access to a range of facilities, including:
* Excellent computing resources such as a high-performance computing cluster, several high-performance PC clusters and parallel high-performance SGI computer clusters, an extensive unit of Linux and UNIX workstations. * A wide range of experimental facilities from low speed wind tunnels with one of the lowest ever recorded turbulence level of 0.01% to supersonic wind tunnels, anechoic chamber dedicated to aeroacoustics problems, two new state-of-the-art electrospray technology laboratories, experimental propulsion, an advanced CueSim flight simulator and labs equipped with modern measurements techniques. * Engineering and Materials Sciences postgraduates will also have access to the School's extensive experimental facilities used for materials, the latest electron microscopes and a brand new Nanovision centre.
International Science and Engineering Excellence Awards
In recognition of the important investment that overseas students are making in their education, Queen Mary is pleased to offer International Science and Engineering Excellence Awards for 2014 entry. These awards are for the value of either £2,000 or £5,000 per year and are designed to reward academic achievement and help attract the brightest and best students from overseas.International Science and Engineering Excellence Awards will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the College. They apply to all taught courses, both undergraduate and postgraduate, offered by the following Schools:School of Biological and Chemical Sciences School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science School of Engineering and Materials Science (excluding MSc Dental Materials (J5S9)) School of Physics and Astronomy

£2,000 - £5,000
The level of award that a student may be eligible to receive will be based on previous academic attainment. For example, to be eligible to receive an award of £2,000 students must be on track to meet or exceed our minimum entry requirements for the programme of their choice at the point of offer. To be eligible to receive an award of £5,000 per year, students must have achieved grades equivalent to a UK First Class Bachelors degree or overseas equivalent. For overseas equivalents please refer to the tables below.
There is no need to complete a separate application form to be considered for an International Science and Engineering Excellence Award. Students will be considered for an award on the basis of the information they provide in their online application to Queen Mary.
Successful candidates will be informed of their award via email notification directing them to the MySiS applicant portal by the Admissions Office.
Science and Engineering Taught Scholarships
The Faculty of Science and Engineering Scholarship is open to home (UK/EU) students only who gain/have gained a first class honours degree or equivalent.To be eligible for the £1,500 scholarship, you must have applied and been accepted for a standard fee masters programme within our Faculty of Science and Engineering for 2014/15 entry. To check which courses are eligible for the Scholarship (i.e. standard fee courses), please see our tuition fees pages.Part-time students will be eligible for 50% of the award; distance learning courses will not be included.You must not be in receipt of any other Queen Mary scholarship or full-fee scholarship from any other source.The scholarship award will be deducted from the tuition fees payable to the Queen Mary University of London. This is a partial award only and you must be able to finance the remainder of the tuition fees and living expenses yourself.
