The Simon Williams Scholarship 2011 - 2 Awards

The Simon Williams scholarships have been established to commemorate the contribution to the Business School and the University of Simon Williams, Dean of the Business School from 1999 - 2005. The scholarship awards are £1,000 paid towards the cost of programme fees.Criteria
The award committee has identified several significant qualities associated with Simon which made his contribution so distinctive. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate potential for achievement under these headings but the boundaries inevitably overlap and the committee will consider applications holistically, rather than expecting candidates to provide equally strong evidence under every heading. Candidates should, however, use the headings to structure the way in which they present their application.
1. Intellect
Academic achievement, both before and during an applicant’s time studying at Brookes, is one way of demonstrating intellectual potential but the committee will also be looking for other factors that indicate, for example, use of an analytical approach to solving practical problems or capacity to think creatively.
2. Industry
Under this heading the committee would expect to see evidence showing a high level of commitment to completing an undertaking, self-motivation and a willingness to work hard over and above general expectations.
3. Integrity
Under this heading the committee would expect to see demonstration of a candidate’s personal values in action – concern for others, understanding of the impact of their own behaviour on the groups to which they belong, high standards, loyalty and friendship.
