I originally come from Bogota, Colombia and I have decided to come and study my masters in MA Fashion Marketing and Communication here at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). I always knew I wanted to study in the UK and when I found the course at NTU I knew it was the right one for me.
I made my application through a Colombian education agency (MAS Education) and won a Latin American Scholarship for Art & Design (I would advise anyone applying to NTU to apply for a scholarship also, each school has them as well as many specific international scholarships for students like me).
The best thing about NTU is my course. My course has an amazing research project opportunity which I get to choose and work on at my own pace. Because I get to choose the subject I can work on something I feel really passionate about. Plus the assistance you get from the course supervisors is amazing, if I’ve wanted any help or to change anything then my supervisor is always available for me.
The teaching style is definitely different here compared to Colombia, it is a lot more independent which I like – I have a background in journalism so I am used to sourcing my own work and working alone. I would definitely recommend this course for someone who likes to work independently and is looking for a research-based course.
My other favourite thing about Nottingham is the group of people I have met. Since Welcome Week I have made a big circle of friends from all over the world. I love them all! Also, because Nottingham is a student city it means that everyone is much more friendly and accepting than other places I have visited. When I am not studying I am with my friends cooking, travelling, going to galleries and spending time together.
