This unique course gives you the opportunity to become an expert in understanding trends and meanings in visual and material culture. In particular, those aspects which are defined by their appearance, affected by fashion, and which communicate ideas and values through stylistic choices.
Study on a full-time or part-time basis, with flexible teaching and learning. Negotiate your projects to reflect your personal and professional aspirations. Learn through an innovative curriculum, studying across fields and genres, focusing on key themes within visual and material culture. Gain an understanding of the political, social, environmental and ethical implications of style culture. Learn to communicate your ideas about culture in a professional way, through media like academic conference papers, documentaries, and journalistic articles. Attend workshops for creative thinking, writing for different audiences and media, and relevant software like Adobe InDesign. Develop your practical skills in the basics of mobile journalism and communications. Take part in live briefs and collaborations, allowing you to network and gain experience. Benefit from guest speakers who will share their specialist knowledge, challenge perspectives, and give insight into current cultural developments. Prepare for further study, such as a PhD.
Postgraduate Masters Scholarships for UK students
We award these competitive scholarships to students who can demonstrate excellent achievement, passion and dedication to their studies.*All full-time postgraduate taught courses in the School of Art & Design, with the exception of PG Cert Creative Pattern Cutting.Applicants will be assessed on their academic merit and the relevance of the statement on their scholarship application form.

Half your tuition fee
We're pleased to offer a number of scholarships worth up to the value of half your tuition fee. These scholarships are available to students who have been made an offer of a place to study on an eligible postgraduate Masters course* starting in September 2017. The scholarships will be available in the form of a tuition fee reduction.

This scheme is for existing NTU students who are progressing to MA student, and NTU alumni who graduated after 1 July 2012.It is open to Home (UK), EU and International students.

To be eligible for this scheme you must either be:a current final year undergraduate student studying at NTU progressing directly onto one of the School of Art & Design's full-time or part-time Masters courses; or an alumni from one of NTU's full-time or part-time undergraduate, postgraduate or professional courses at NTU, who graduated after 1 July 2012. You must also have accepted an offer of a place to study on an eligible course in the School of Art & Design, starting in September 2017. This scheme is open to Home (UK), EU and International students, and will be automatically be deducted from your fees before enrolment.

A good honours degree (minimum 2.1) or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or relevant experience, and a short written response to a set question, or a proposal for an investigation, into an aspect of style culture. International and EU applicants will also need to meet our English Language requirements.
