MRes Molecular Biology


Course Description

This course considers the molecular biology of prokaryotes and eukaryotes and looks at how genomes are mutated, analysed and manipulated in the detection, study and therapy of disease. You will also explore a range of current topics and their application to macromolecular analysis.

What will I study?

The MRes courses are divided into a taught element (60 credit points) and a laboratory-based research project (120 credit points). You will complete the extended research project in one of our highly rated research teams.

A UK honours degree (minimum 2.1) or higher qualification in a Biological or Computing subject, plus laboratory experience gained through employment or an undergraduate research project. Appropriate experience or other relevant qualifications will also be considered.
