MA Communication Design

I only considered specialist creative universities because the workshops, facilities, library and teaching will all be geared towards creative subjects.

I like that we can attend workshops in a range of areas and learn different things. I’ve taken part in workshops in sculpture, painting, silk screen – it has really broadened my horizons. Seminars are good because the classes are small. The tutors talk about our work and we also get feedback from our peers – which is really valuable. We’ve had group projects where we work with students not on our course. It’s good to work with people with other skills and to get different perspectives from other disciplines.

It’s been great meeting such a diverse group of peers who have travelled from all over the world to study at NUA. There is a real feeling of community among the students and staff, as well as in the city as a whole. We are lucky in Norwich to have a thriving creative community, spanning music, performance and events, as well as art and design. Overall, the community is friendly, welcoming and supportive.

There is a great design scene in the city with a number of local studios producing high quality work. There is also an opportunity to meet locally practicing creatives through the university’s regular networking events. Norwich has a good selection of small and large galleries, including the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts just outside the city, and NUA’s East Gallery, which attract brilliant local and visiting artists and are always worth a look.
