Course Description

MSc in Strategic Marketing Management
The MSc in Strategic Marketing Managementis a two year programme which is taught in English. The focus of the programme is to ensure that candidates graduate with a solid understanding of product and customer profitability. The programme also emphasises statistical and economic analysis which provide computer based decision making. Students will also be exposed to a variety of business models which have the customer as its focal point.

The MSc in Strategic Marketing Managementprovides a rigorous academic programme aimed at providing students with important marketing skills in influencing the level, timing, and composition of demand for a product, service, organisation, place, person, idea or some form of information.
Companies must perform well if they are to remain in the increasingly competitive global market place. The key to profitable company performance is to know and to satisfy target customers with superior offers.

Programme Structure
In the Master of Science in Strategic Marketing Management programme students choose all their 10 courses in their area of specialisation. 5 courses are of the advanced level.
The program culminates in the MSc thesis, which enables the student to pursue in depth a particular area of interest and develop a personal understanding of a leading edge issue in the field of specialisation.

The overall objective of the Master of Science in marketing is to give the students the opportunity to understand and apply the theories, principles, models and techniques within the different areas of marketing.
Marketing has its roots in economic, sociologic and psychological theoretical frameworks as well as the discipline has developed its own theories. The courses provide a thorough grounding in the central theories and research traditions in the marketing discipline. Through the courses the students develop both a critical view of the literature and an understanding of how the theories apply to practical marketing problems. Together this provides the students with a solid basis for a creative execution of theories and principles in their marketing career.

About the programme
The MSc of Strategic Marketing Management programme provides you with both a deep and broad insight in the marketing discipline combined with a management platform. This rigorous academic program is aiming at students pursuing or planning to pursue a career in marketing either as a marketing manager, marketing consultant, or a marketing analyst. In order to qualify for such positions is not enough to have knowledge about and understand introductory marketing, it also important to understand the underlying theories of models and techniques in order to judge when the models and techniques are appropriate.

Why Take a Marketing Major?
As a Master of Science student in Strategic Marketing Management, you already have a solid platform in marketing from the bachelor’s level. So why should you take a major in marketing? At the master level you will be introduced to topics that may not have been taught in the bachelor courses. More important is that the master courses might challenge what you have learned before by discussing critically the underlying theoretical frameworks as well as the sources for received knowledge. Academic requirements:
A solid academic record with a satisfactory GPA. See specific GPA requirements for the different programmes.
A satisfactory score (average 600) on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). A GMAT requirement waiver may be granted under certain conditions: contact the MSc administration for details.
A satisfactory score on IELTS or TOEFL language tests.
