Business (Graduate Diploma)

Course Description

About this course

Are you ready to take a step up the career ladder but missing some of the essential requirements to move straight into Masters’ level business study?

Our pathway courses are designed for those looking for support to meet either the language or the academic subject entry requirements for postgraduate study. They bridge any gaps in your existing skills level and give you the confidence to progress onto Newcastle Business School’s Masters provision.

The Graduate Diploma course consists of 120 credits delivered over two semesters and the Graduate Certificate course consists of 60 credits delivered over one semester. The two courses share a common core of modules; a 40 credit Business and Management in Context module and a 20 credit Developing Academic Skills for Business and Management module, designed to support your development of academic skills for future studies at postgraduate level.

The course is covered by the prestigious AACSB accreditation for Newcastle Business School, which was ‘Business School of the Year’ at the Times Higher Education Awards 2015.

What will I study?

The first 3 modules (Communicative Skills for Business in Listening and Speaking, Communicative Skills for Business in Reading and Writing and Applied Language Development) will help you to develop core English skills using both leading English for Academic Purposes textbooks and the type of authentic materials such as lectures and journal articles used in the other 2 modules: Business and Management in Context and Developing Academic Skills for Business and Management.

By successfully completing these modules you will gain the skills, knowledge and confidence required to study successfully on our Masters programmes.

During the course of this programme you will have access to the interventions currently offered to all undergraduate Newcastle Business School students that seek to develop a range of attitudes and attributes that will put you in a competitive position when entering the job market.
