This is a programme for those working in the Post Compulsory Sector (work-based learning, education, community and voluntary sector, wider workforce) who are either teaching literacy or embedding literacy into their teaching.
A programme of subject specific professional studies is offered by a range of highly professional and experienced lecturers. Their aim is to develop students understanding of educational policy and
procedures, teaching and learning theory and practice and planning, assessment and evaluation procedures with literacy emphasis.
- Year 1 Year one You will explore and consider your literacy practice and the varied roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer and how these relate to theories of teaching and learning and developing the literacy skills of your learners. You will have the opportunity to share practice and engage in practical activities with the support and facilitation of highly qualified experienced lecturers.
- Year 2 Year two You will develop your subject specific knowledge of literacy through modules which will focus on the grammatical frameworks of Standard English, accent and dialect, 1st and 2nd language acquisition and how to develop literacy specific resources to support teaching and learning of literacy.
