Secondary Education: Physical Education PGCE

Course Description

Schoo l- Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) is a type of initial teacher education which is primarily school-based meaning you will experience through professional preparation for life as a teacher while studying for the academic qualification of PGCE.

This specialist Physical Education programme is ideal if you wish to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). The programme is structured to develop the skills required to teach across the spectrum of activities in National Curriculum for Physical Education. You will gain the knowledge, understanding and professional standards necessary to teach pupils within Key Stages 3,4 and beyond.

Entry Requirements

Applications to Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR) Course Code X9C6. Applicants should usually possess all of the following including other set criteria:•GCSE grade C or equivalent, in English and Mathematics•Educational experience in Science; for example by possessing GCSE Science (grade C or above), A’ Level Physical Education, BTEC National in Sport or through any other suitable route•A 2:1 honours degree or equivalent with a substantial sport or physical education content•Work experience in a secondary school physical education department•Successful completion of the mandatory literacy and numeracy skills tests.
