The Oil and Gas Management MSc has been designed to equip you with a diverse but focused knowledge of the business and management processes that operate in the oil and gas industry. It also looks at the legal framework that regulates the energy and hydrocarbon market.
The course will train you to become a leader in the oil and gas industry, as well as the wider energy sector.
What's covered in the course?
You’ll look at the laws governing exploration and production, and how legally binding contracts are regulated. You’ll gain a detailed understanding of how oil and gas operations are managed, as well as how to use analytics and business intelligence tools to make critical business decisions.
You’ll use industry-standard, state-of-the-art facilities to ensure you achieve the best grade and become acclimatised to the technology you’ll use in industry. You’ll also have access to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, which can be used to collect, store, manage and interpret data from many business activities. This is supplied by SAP Software & Solutions, a world leader in applications for the oil and gas industry.

The course would also be beneficial to lawyers, informing their current or future practice in a relevant market.
The course is run collaboratively between Birmingham City Business School, the School of Law and the School of Engineering and the Built Environment, and this cross-disciplinary approach helps you gain a broad understanding of the oil and gas field.
